Jack Davis Illustrated Monster Cards

(Mystery Solved!)

Earlier this month Jim Van Hise wrote in asking if we could identify the above group of cards.
We couldn't.

Fortunately, several monster card/Jack Davis fans could.

Thanks to the following folks for taking the time to write in and solve the mystery:
Bill Mullins
Patrick Dean
Devlin Thompson
Scott Shaw

Here's the scoop as pieced together from their information:

In 1963/1964 RCA released an LP entitled "Dracula's Greatest Hits" by Gene Moss.
Moss was also the host of KHJ-TV (Los Angeles) classic monster-themed kids' show,
SHRIMPENSTEIN.

Inserted into the album as an added feature was a 15-card sheet of monster cards illustrated
by Jack Davis. (According to Scott Shaw, Davis also did the artwork for the album's front and
back covers.)

The cards, in their separated form, are 2 1/4" x 3 1/4". B & W with perforated edges and are
blank-backed.

Additionally, according to Jim Van Hise these cards are not listed in the book THE ART OF JACK DAVIS.

Several responders to the question mentioned that the set is 15 cards in length. Thanks to
Bill Mullins for submitting the following partial checklist.

Note: Cards are not numbered.
The following uses our arbitrary numbering.

1. Bride of Frankenstein
2. Count Dracula
3. Frankenstein's Monster
4. Girl Vampire
5. Godzilla

Please e-mail if you do!

Thanks once again to all who wrote in!
